In this issue:
Changes, enhancements and fixes
Enhancements to Alumni Enrichment and Alumni Participation reports
UODO, Buffalo Telephone Fundraising Consultants and a number of colleges came together earlier this year to discuss and make suggestions on how the Alumni Enrichment Report and Alumni Participation Report could be improved. We are pleased to be able to announce that these updated reports are now live in DARS. Information relating to these enhancements can be found on the DARSWiki at http://darswiki.bsp.ox.ac.uk/index.php/Custom_Reports.
Update to College Benchmarking report
We have updated the College Benchmarking report so that it now displays data for the full financial year 2014/15.
Service Pack 13
On 22 September, we applied Service Pack 13 to Live DARS. This is a cumulative Service Pack, which means that it includes fixes and enhancements from Services Packs 11 and 12. Some of the most significant items are:
Use of different addresses for Gift Aid Tax Declaration
New feature: You can now choose whether you want to use the primary address on a record or choose a specific address for a Gift Aid Tax Declaration. You can also choose whether you want to use the constituent's name or an alias in the declaration. By default, all existing declarations use the constituent's name and primary address. To choose a different address or alias, you must update those associated declarations. The selected name and address are then used for R68 Gift Aid processing.
New phone number submitted via Profile Update Form in BBIS
Technical Change: When a website user submits a new phone number on the Profile Update Form on your Blackbaud Internet Solutions (BBIS) website and the linked constituent record in DARS does not have phone number data, the number now becomes the primary phone number for the constituent after it downloads to DARS.
Fix to Revenue Gift Aid query
This fix addresses an issue with the Revenue Gift Aid query. Previously, different application gift aid refresh dates in the query could incorrectly display multiple rows per revenue. The query now shows the most recent refresh data across the applications.
Gross Amounts for Recognition Programmes for the UK
You can now track gross amounts for recognition programmes in the UK version of Blackbaud CRM (DARS). This allows you to include Gift Aid amounts in recognition credits for your constituents. When you choose to include gross amounts to calculate recognition levels, constituents can achieve recognition levels faster.
You can choose to include gross amounts when you add a recognition programme. On the Recognition Criteria tab of the Add a recognition programme screen, you can select the Use gross amount checkbox.
Change to revenue calculation for marketing efforts
Technical Change: Blackbaud have changed the way revenue is calculated for marketing efforts. Previously, if someone made a pledge payment and included an additional donation associated with an appeal on a marketing effort, the pledge payment portion was also included in the totals toward the marketing effort. Now, in this situation, only the additional donation is counted. You must refresh your marketing efforts that may contain pledge payments in order to take advantage of the updated calculation.
Full details of all the changes can be found at the following links:
Use of transfer designations
Last month we posted a reminder that colleges should not change the designation of any donation that begins with ‘1-Transfer’. That remains the case: in addition, we have been asked to point out that colleges should not use any such designations at all, as these are for ‘transfer’ gifts, which are by definition processed by Gift Registry. Colleges can of course use or change designations that begin ‘1-College’.
Circulation of DARS data
If you need to circulate data from DARS – for example, an attendee list for an event – please remember to use appropriate encryption, as described in DARS rules 7.2.5 and 7.2.9. The full set of DARS rules can be found at https://www.darscentral.ox.ac.uk/file/darsrules.pdf.
